A Guide to Psycho thriller Korean Movies

This is my favorite list of psycho thriller Korean movies. I have not watched all the Korean movies of this genre but the movies below are truly some of the best movies that I have seen. The psycho thriller genre emphasizes the unstable or delusional psychological states of its characters. It’s one of my Top 3 favorite genre in movies. I find that Koreans are of the best at creating psycho thriller movies. 

Scarlet letter

Is filled with twists until the end. Directed by Hyuk Byun and written by Ji-won Lee, this movie is about a cop who ends up in interesting situations due to the choices he has made in life.

Mother

A movie about a mother who is trying to save her son from being wrongly charged with murder. One of my favorite Won Bin movies. Directed by Bong Joon Ho. Kim Hye Ja is amazing in her performance as the mother who has fought to protect her son his entire life.

The chaser

Ha Jung Woo and Kim Yoon Seok in a movie about a serial killer? A must watch movie for anyone that is a fan of either actors. I watched the last 40 minutes in utter horror. Amazing movie. Amazing cast. Amazing directing. It’s also has its funny moments.

Dark figure of crime

This is based on a true story making it that much scarier. The acting was phenomenal. This is a movie for true fans of the psycho thriller genre.

I would not recommend for everyone

Oldboy

A man gets jailed in a room for 15 years and he does not know why.

You really just have to watch it. it is a must watch. It was so good that it has a western remake.

Nothing you see is real.

Starts off like a horror movie. The last 40 minutes are gold. If you like Oldboy, you will also like this movie

I SAW THE DEVIL

Is it worth becoming a monster while chasing another monster? Is it worth doing evil things to defeat evil? one of the best revenge stories that I have ever seen. A must watch.
