This week K-Drama casting news: (03.11~03.17)

Another week full of casting news and favorite actors coming back to our small screen! YAY! Let’s get started!

Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryun:

Park Ji Hyun & Gong Jung Hwan confirmed for MBC’s upcoming sageuk drama ‘Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung‘ along with Shin Se Kyung & Cha Eun Woo

The drama will be directed by Kang Il Soo (Solomon’s Perjury) & Han Hyun
Hee and written by Kim Hoo Soo, It tells the story of women in the 19th century who were frowned upon for writing historical records despite being female. The drama will fight against outdated prejudice on the basis of gender and social status and show the value of change. On top of telling survival stories of female intern historians at the palace, it will also show the romance that blossoms between Prince Yi Rim and historian Goo Hae Ryung.

The drama will follow ‘Spring Night’ in July.

Hotel Del Luna:

Choi Tae Joon is positively reviewing the offer from tvN’s upcoming drama Hotel del Luna along with IU & Yeo Jin Goo

The drama will be directed by Oh Choong Hwan PD (While You Were Sleeping) & Written by Hong Sisters (Hwayugi). It tells the story of a man who began working Hotel del Luna as a manager due to an unexpected case. Jang Man Wol is the hotel CEO, she is beautiful but she is not nice to others. She made a big mistake many years ago and because of that she has been under a curse for over a 1,000 years.

The drama will follow ‘Asadal Chronicles’ in August.

Doctor Room:

Lee Se Young is positively reviewing the offer from SBS’s upcoming drama ‘Doctor Room‘ along with JiSung. She will play the role of an anesthesiology resident.

The drama will be directed by Jo Soo Won PD (Thirty But Seventeen) and It’s a medical drama revolving around doctors of Pain Management

The drama will air in the first half of this year.

Spring Night:

Kim Chang Wan, Gil Hae Yeon, Oh Man Seok & Seo Jung Yeon confirmed for MBC’s upcoming drama ‘Spring Night‘ along with Han Ji Min & Jung Hae In

The drama will be directed and written by ‘Something in the Rain’ PD & writer, It tells the story of a couple in their 30’s has dated for a long time and they begin to talk about getting married. They look back at their relationship and realize their love newly.

The drama will air in May.

Voice 3:

Lee Ha Na & Lee Jin Wook confirmed for OCN’s upcoming drama Voice3.

The drama will be directed by Nam Ki Hoon PD and written by Ma Jin Won (Voice 1&2) and it’s about emergency 112 call center members deal with an international evil cartel. The group is involved in the internet’s dark web.

The drama will air in May.

Abyss:

Lee Sung Jae confirmed for tvN’s upcoming drama ‘Abyss‘ along with Park Bo Young & Ahn Hyo Seop.

The drama will be directed by Yoo Je Won (Oh My Ghost) and Written by Moon Soo Yun (Rude Miss Young Ae 9 & 10), It tells the story of a man and a woman who suddenly meet their death and are given another chance at life through soul-reviving beads in a magical abyss. By using the magic, their souls are reborn on earth, but they find themselves in completely different physical bodies.

It’s expected to air in the first half of this year.

Save Me 2:

Uhm Tae Goo, Cheon Ho Jin, Esom & Kim Young Min confirmed for OCN’s upcoming drama ‘Save Me 2’.

The drama will be directed by Lee Kwon PD (Door Lock) and written by Jo Geum San, it will tell the story of residents in a small town fall into a state of chaos due to the presence of a false religious group.

The drama will air in May.

Moment of Eighteen:

Kang Ki Young & Astro‘s Moon Binconfirmed for JTBC’s upcoming drama ‘Moment of Eighteen‘ along with Ong Seong Wu & Kim Hyang Gi

The drama will be directed by Sim Na Yeon PD (School of Hip Hop) & Written by Yoon Kyung Ah (Girls’ Generation 1979). It will tell the story of 18-year-old Choi Joon Woo (Ong Seong Woo), He is not good at expressing his emotions, but he has a cute side. He transfers to a new school where he meets Yoo Soo Bin (Kim Hyang Gi). She is a top student, but her life is controlled by her mother. She dreams of becoming independent. After meeting Choi Joon Woo, she starts to experience small changes in her life. Meanwhile, Ma Whi Young (Shin Seung Ho) is a student who seems perfect and gentle, but he suffers from a complex. After Choi Joon Woo transfers to his school, his life begins to change.

The drama will start filming in April and air in the second half of the year.

My Country:

Kim Seo Kyung confirmed for JTBC’s upcoming sageuk drama My Country along with Yang Se Jong & Woo Do Hwan.

The drama will be written by Chae Seung Dae (Inspiring Generation, Master: God of Noodles) and directed by Kim Jin Won PD (The Innocent Man, Just Between Lovers, etc). It’s set during the end of the Goryeo period to the early Joseon period. It follows the story of two friends, Seo Hwi (Yang Se Jong) is a warrior who can’t stand injustice & Nam Sun-Ho (Woo Do-Hwan) is smart and a talented figure, he wants to pass the military service exam, but corruption by his father create misunderstandings between the two and it affects their friendship. Seolhyun will play as a woman skilled in martial arts.

The drama will air in the second half of the year.

Joseon Survival:

Kyung Soo Jin is positively reviewing the offer from tv Chosun’s upcoming drama ‘Joseon Survival’ along with Kang Ji Hwan

The drama will be directed by Lee Hyung Seon PD (Always Spring) and Written by Kim Sol Ji (Syndrome) and It’s a time slip drama depicting the strong friendship between Jeong-rok, a courier and former national archery athlete, and Im Kkeok-jeong of the Joseon dynasty.

The drama will air in the second half of the year.

Everyone’s Lies:

Lee Min Ki is positively reviewing the offer from OCN’s upcoming drama ‘Everyone’s Lies

The drama will be directed by Lee Yoon Jung PD (Argon, Cheese In The Trap) and It will tell the story of a woman whose husband disappears after her father’s sudden death. The woman becomes a member of the National Assembly to save her husband, and she is joined by a detective as they try to chase after the truth.

The drama will be broadcast in the second half of this year.

Her Private Life:

Yoo Yong Min confirmed for tvN’s upcoming drama Her Private Life

The drama is directed by Hong Jang Chan PD (Dear My friends, Life) and It’s based on the webtoon “Noona Fan Dot Com” and It’s about a talented gallery curator named Sung Duk Mi (Park Min Young), who is an idol fangirl underneath her professional veneer. Meanwhile, her boss Ryan (Kim Jae Wook) becomes a passionate fanboy of her.

The drama will follow ‘Touch Your Heart’ in April.

I Holo You:

Choi Yeo Jin confirmed for Netflix’s upcoming drama ‘I Holo You‘ along with Yoon Hyun Min & Go Sung Hee.

The drama will be directed by Lee Sang Yeob PD (Familiar Wife) and written by Ryu Yong Jae (Pied Piper), It tells the story of a lonely woman who, by chance, encounters a personal-use artificially intelligent (AI) hologram that is incredibly loyal. Adding another dimension to the story, the hologram was created in the image of its human inventor.
